Bolivar Gold Medal (La Casa del Habano Edition)

A true and classic champion Bolivar.

Exclusively for Germany, Habanos S.A. had reissued in 2005 the Bolívar Gold Medal in a small number of pieces, which is appreciated and sought after by Habanos lovers worldwide. Already at that time, this rarity was exclusively carried in the Casas del Habano (at that time, the stores of the Cuban franchise chain existed in Germany only in Cologne and Berlin). Thus, a virtually legendary Habano was brought back to life, the production of which had presumably been discontinued in 1992. Even then, the Bolívar Gold Medal was one of the strongest and earthiest Habanos ever, impressively representing the Bolívar style. Production of the cigar had been discontinued at the time due to problems with the characteristic gold foil that wraps half of the cigar. However, in 2005, a manufacturer was located in Germany that produced gold foil that matched the old pattern. Through intensive research among the torcedores in Havana's cigar factories, they then located rollers who had the knowledge of how to attach the gold foil to the cigars.

The Bolívar Gold Medals have the format of a Cervante. This classic Habanos format, with a length of 165 mm and a ring gauge of 42, is often called "Lonsdale" after its greatest lover. In keeping with the tradition of this vitola, Habanos S.A. presented the Gold Medals in boxes of 10. After the great success of the exclusive production for Germany in 2005 and the worldwide response to this rebirth, Habanos S.A. has decided to permanently include the Bolívar Gold Medal in its assortment in the future as a speciality made exclusively for Casas del Habano. Production was reinstated with the La Casa del Habano release reinstated in 2007 but unfortunately discontinued in 2011.
