A true festive cigar.
The Cuaba name originates from the Taino indians, the indigenous inhabitants of Cuba before the Spanish discovered the island in the fifteenth century. A cuaba was the type of bush the Tainos used to light their cigars. Every Cuaba is made in the distinctive shape known as a double figurado, a popular format in the 19th century. When Cuaba was introduced in 1996, it was offered in only four smaller sizes. Since 2003, though, Habanos has released three much larger vitolas.
The Cuaba Diademas is a true festive cigar. Long, stately and yet elegant like a well-shaped weapon. The flawless wrapper and the wonderful workmanship of the Cuaba Diademas make it even more valuable. It smells of hay and earth, a little of cocoa, subtle yet recognisably Cuban in origin. Carefully cut and the foot toasted, already the first puff is like a revelation. Still very mild, almost cool, but the first signals for a top cigar already land on the palate. Further in the course of smoking, the gentle increase begins to show effect, the smoke becomes more prominent and spicy. The two-hour smoke is characterised by stringency, the Diademas burns down straight and draws perfectly. In this respect, no re-cutting or re-lighting is necessary. This pleases the aromatics, which once again add to the flavour in the final third. Not as strong as the Salomones but still very impressive, the Diademas burns quite long and remains in the memory for a long time after putting it down.
The Cuaba Diademas is one of the most impressive vitolas there is. With a length of 233 mm, it is only 2 mm shorter than the "A" format and the unusual ring gauge of 55 provides the necessary smoke channel. Diademas used to be available from other brands, at the moment Cuabas are the only ones being produced.
