H. Upmann Magnum 56 Cigar Jar

Updated: Mar 16, 2021

The answer to those of us who couldn't get enough of the legenday Magnum 56 Limited Edition.

This vitola belongs to the brand that is considered the benchmark for fine Habanos. It is introduced to the market in a jar filled with 20 pieces and is made "Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larga" - completely by hand with a long filler. The leaves from which it is rolled come from the Vuelta Abajo* area of Pinar del Rio*, considered the best tobacco growing region in the world, and are carefully selected by experienced Cuban torcedores - professional cigar rollers.

The Magnum 56 Vitola is a Habano with a heavy ring gauge that follows current trends among Habano lovers, and it has a soft to medium-strong flavour that is characteristic of this brand's blend.

The International Duty Free & Travel Retail Global Summit in Cannes, France, organised by TFWA World Exhibition & Conference, took place from Sunday 29 September to Friday 4 October 2020. In addition to the H. Upmann Magnum 56 Jar, Habanos, S.A showcased some of the most emblematic launches of 2019, such as the Trinidad Media Luna and Topes, Romeo y Julieta Maravillas 8 celebrating the Chinese New Year, and the Quai d'Orsay Senadores Limited Edition 2019. Premium brand manufacturers were showcased at this Global Summit, where visitors could also enjoy several conferences and workshops that completed an extensive programme.

This event in Cannes was the ideal occasion to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Corporacion Habanos, S.A.. A special dinner of honour was organised for the occasion, attended by all the top managers of Habanos, S.A. and many of the company's key distributors from around the world.

Special mention should be made of Herman Upmann, the creator of the H. Upmann brand in 1844. He was a German banker whose love of Habanos led him to settle in Havana in 1840, where he established a bank and a Habanos factory. The bank has since closed, but his brand of Habanos remains to this day and is considered an example of the most refined Habanos, with a soft to medium strong flavour. The gold medals that adorn the box were won by the brand at no less than eleven international fairs in the nineteenth Century and are a distinctive element of its presentation. With a vitola range characterised by its mild to medium taste, the Linea Magnum Habanos are highly recognisable.
