Updated: Mar 16, 2021

Commemorate the spring festival of the Chinese lunar new year.

Habanos, S.A., through its exclusive distributors The Pacific Cigar Co. LTD (PCC) and Infifon Hong Kong Limited, presented its new limited edition vitola, Primaveras de Hoyo de Monterrey (48 x 167 mm) at an exclusive live and online event on 13 January.

Hosted in Hong Kong, with crosses to Havana, the event was timed to ensure most of Asia, Europe and the Americas could participate live or virtually.

In Hong Kong, Mr Dag Holmboe, CEO of The Pacific Cigar Co., Mr Norio Hattori, Regional Marketing Director of The Pacific Cigar Co. and Mr Eduardo Torres Perez, Managing Director of Infifon Hong Kong Limited, opened the event and were joined from Havana by the Vice Presidents of Habanos, S.A. Leopoldo Cintra González and José María López Inchaurbe who all shared information about the newest Hoyo de Monterrey.

About 200 guests attended the launch live, while over 60 individual and cigar lounges logged in to learn more about the cigar.

This vitola has been specially selected by Habanos, S.A. to commemorate the spring festival of the Chinese Lunar New Year, this year the “Year of the Ox”. The Primaveras de Hoyo de Monterrey is limited to a production of 8888 boxes, each containing 18 cigars, and will be available in all markets.

Hoyo de Monterrey is one of the most renowned Habanos brands. The name goes back to the plantation of the same name in San Juan y Martínez in the heart of the Vuelta Abajo. Undoubtedly one of the most famous plantations on very fertile soil. It alludes to the fertility of the Cuban lands where one of the world's most famous tobaccos is grown. All of the brand's vitolas are made "Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larga" - completely by hand, with long fillers. The leaves all come from the Pinar del Río region, in the Vuelta Abajo* region.
